It wouldn't take many instances of seeing kids with fingers in sample jars or having to deal with sticky jars and sampling-utensils to put me and a lot of people off the place and seriously hurt the business. I'm personally glad that the policy is as it is; I pretty much buy all my preserves there, stocking up whenever we're in town.

Incredible range of offerings; lots of unusual flavor combinations. Taste everything on crackers before buying, so you know what you're getting.

I might be able to say more if I had been able to get in the door. A woman was in the doorway with a cart, blocking the rude, uninviting entryway in which signs bar admittance to children and disavow any sort of political correctness. "We say Merry Christmas, " "We salute the flag," "We speak English," etc. What has you people so offended? Make America Nice Again, please! I can't believe this place gets any business; it will never get mine.

My son enjoys different types of mustard and we intended to purchase some for him. I was told my son was not welcome in the store. So we left. They have tacky signs at entrance. One sign says something about going to Ryan’s in Sylva if you want a buffet. Don’t bother stopping by this shop.

BBQ Bourbon Bacon sauce it the best thing we have ever tasted! Amazing store (if you don't have kids apparently)!

I sympathize with people offended by the "no kids" signs, but also sympathize with the owner and situations that likely led to the signs.

Some people monitor their kids carefully, don't let them stick fingers in the sample jars, or get sticky fingerprints all over, drop crackers or loose jam on the floor, etc, etc. Others unfortunately aren't as conscientious, and the store is so full of racks and shelves that the owner would need another two staff people just to monitor things and keep all the above from happening.

Jerk at the front counter says no kids under 13 allowed as my wife is picking up a basket to shop. Give me a break. They lost our business. Very poor reflection of our Highlands experience. Does the owner notice the poor reviews left because of this poor business practice?
